Little Beck
Little Beck is a cottage in Troutbeck, which is about three miles south of Keswick. It’s for two people, one bedroom, but it has the bonus of two bathrooms. It's a 4 Star place, so it's comfortable.
You’ve got a small private patio with a table. Parking is right outside. Inside, it's open plan downstairs, a kitchen and living area. There’s a washing machine, TV, and WiFi. Bedding and towels are included.
The stairs up to the bedroom are a bit tight, typical for an old cottage. The bedroom itself is fine and you've got a choice of a walk-in shower downstairs or a bath upstairs.
We take one well-behaved dog. There's a bit of secure storage for bikes if you bring them.
Troutbeck itself is quiet, just a hamlet really. There's a pub up the road, the Mortal Man, which does food. For everything else, you’ll drive into Keswick. It's about five minutes by car.
From here, you're well placed for the fells. You can walk up Place Fell or over to Ullswater from the door. Keswick is your hub for boat trips on Derwentwater, shops, and the Theatre by the Lake. For a big day out, the northern lakes like Buttermere are within half an hour, and you can be in Grasmere or at the foot of Helvellyn in about twenty-five minutes.
