The Carriage House is in Wreay, which is basically a quiet spot just above Ullswater. You're a couple of minutes' walk from a decent pub. The view is the main thing. You look right down the lake to Place Fell. I still stop and look at it sometimes.
It's for two people. One bedroom, one bathroom with a shower. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's clean and comfortable. It was a carriage house, so it's all on one floor which is handy. There’s a patio with some lights for the evening.
Inside there's a TV, WiFi, a washing machine, and a dishwasher. All the bedding and towels are there. You park right outside.
Pooley Bridge is about two miles away. They've got shops, cafes, and you can get the Ullswater steamers from there. Aira Force waterfall is a ten minute drive. You can walk up Helvellyn from there if you're feeling energetic.
You can drive over Kirkstone Pass to Ambleside and Windermere. It's a proper mountain road, so check it's open in winter.
