Villa Villekulla
Villa Villekulla is in Glen Dowlin, which is just over ten minutes from the north end of Ullswater. It's a Scandinavian-style lodge, one of a group of similar ones, so you're not isolated, but it's quiet. The deck looks out over fields.
It sleeps six, three bedrooms and two bathrooms. It's got a 3 Star rating, which I'd say is right. It's clean and comfortable. The main living area is all one open space which works well for a group.
The deck is a good size with furniture. It gets the sun in the morning. You can just step out onto it from the living room.
You're on the edge of farmland, so you've got walks straight from the door. To get to a pub or shop, you need to drive. The nearest village with supplies is probably Penrith, a ten to fifteen minute drive.
For a day out, Keswick is about half an hour away, and Carlisle is about the same. The Aira Force waterfall is very close, maybe five minutes by car. If you want to get out on Ullswater, the steamer launches from Pooley Bridge.
