Quarry Cottage
Quarry Cottage is in Penrith, on the way out of town towards the Lake District. It’s in a quiet spot. The building used to be part of farm buildings, but it’s a proper house now.
It’s a four-star place, which means it’s been updated. It sleeps four but has just one bedroom. That bedroom is a big double on the ground floor. There are two single beds as well, but they’re up in the living room area.
The main thing about it is the living room is upstairs. It’s bright. There are patio doors that open onto a small balcony with a good view over the fields towards the Pennines. There’s a wood burner in there, which is good for the cooler nights.
Downstairs, there's the bedroom, the bathroom, and the kitchen-diner. The kitchen has what you need. The place is all on one level from the car park to the front door and through the ground floor, so that's useful.
You're on the edge of the Lake District. It’s about a ten-minute drive to get onto Ullswater. Penrith town centre is a walkable distance if you don't mind a bit of a hill. There are shops and pubs there.
For getting about, you're just off the M6 junction, so it’s easy to go north towards the Scottish Borders or east to places like Hadrian's Wall. The Lake District National Park site has good information for walks. For local history, English Heritage manages a lot of the sites along the Wall.
Inside, there's a washing machine, dishwasher, wifi, and parking. Bedding and towels are included. No pets.
