Cherry Cottage

Cherry Cottage is in Little Salkeld. It’s a detached house we built ourselves some years back. It has solar panels and underfloor heating. The rating is 5 Star, which means it’s well-equipped and comfortable.

It sleeps nine people in four bedrooms. One is a king with an en-suite shower, there are two more king rooms, and a fourth room has three single beds. All the mattresses are memory foam. There’s a main bathroom with a big bath and a drench shower. You get towels and toiletries.

The kitchen is modern with an island. It has a dishwasher, a washing machine and a dryer. The living room has a wood burner for winter and a very large screen on the wall for films or games. The WiFi is fast.

Outside, there’s an enclosed garden with a patio and a hot tub. It’s private. There’s a separate boot room with a dog shower, a dartboard, and an old games console. You can park two, maybe three, cars on the driveway. More parking is available near the village play area.

We live nearby and will meet you when you arrive. We’re on hand if you need anything during your stay. You can book e-bikes through us if you want them.

The local pub is about a mile away. There’s a shop and a few cafes within a short drive. Langwathby train station is close, on the Carlisle to Settle line. The C2C cycle route goes past the cottage.

For walks from the door, you can go to Lacy’s Caves, which are man-made chambers in a cliff by the river. In the other direction is the stone circle called Long Meg and Her Daughters. You can do a circular walk taking in both.

Within about half an hour’s drive you have the northern edge of the Lake District, like Penrith and Ullswater. The National Trust has a few places nearby, like Acorn Bank. For wider information, Visit Cumbria is useful.

You can bring up to two dogs. We provide a cot and highchair if needed. All bedding and towels are included.
