Lowther Cottage is in Lowther, Cumbria. It's a terraced cottage, part of a row that was built in the 1770s. The village itself is on the Lowther Castle estate, designed by Robert Adam. It's a quiet spot, almost like a little model village.
The cottage sleeps six. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms. It's a 4 Star property, so it's comfortable and well-kept. Being Grade II listed, it's full of character. The ceilings are low in places, and the stairs are cottage stairs, so they're steep. It's warm though, and there's a woodburning stove.
There's an enclosed patio area off the kitchen. Good for sitting out. You can store bikes if you've brought them. We are on the edge of the Lake District National Park, so it's a good base for walking or cycling.
The local pub is about half a mile away. It serves food. The closest shop is two miles, in Askham. Penrith is four miles for bigger supermarkets.
You're well placed here. Ullswater is about a fifteen minute drive. Keswick is maybe twenty-five minutes. The Lowther Castle estate is right on your doorstep, with its gardens and grounds. They hold events like Kendal Calling in the summer.
For wider planning, the Lake District National Park site is useful, and so is the National Trust page for Lowther Castle.
Facilities: there's a washing machine, dishwasher, TV, and WiFi included. Bedding and towels are provided. There's a cot if needed. You can bring one dog. Parking is on site.
