Wordsworth Cottage is in Sockbridge. It's a small village a couple of miles outside Penrith. The cottage was a barn, part of a farm Wordsworth's family once owned. It's been converted now.
It sleeps five. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms. It has a 5 Star rating, which means it's comfortable and well kept. It's light inside, with oak floors and stairs. The stairs are a standard steepness for this type of building.
The village is quiet. There's a pub, The George and Dragon, a few minutes' walk away. They do good food. There's a children's play area just across the lane from the cottage. You can walk from the door into the fields and by the river.
Penrith is three miles away for shops, supermarkets, and a swimming pool. There's also a summer open-air pool at Askham. Rheged, near Penrith, is a big indoor attraction with a cinema, shops, and play areas for kids.
You're well placed for the Lakes here. Ullswater is about two and a half miles away. You can get the steamer there or walk up to Aira Force waterfall. Keswick is about a 30 minute drive, over towards Derwentwater. The northern fells are easily accessible if you want to walk.
For facilities, it has parking, a garden, WiFi, TV, a washing machine, and a dishwasher. There's a woodburning stove for cooler evenings. Bedding and towels are included. A cot, highchair, and stairgate are there if you need them. No pets, sorry.
