Castlegate is a mid-terraced house in Penrith. We bought it a few years back and gave it a full refurbishment. It's modern inside now, no old carpets or draughty windows.
It sleeps six people. Three bedrooms upstairs. Two bathrooms, which is handy. There's a decent-sized open plan living area downstairs.
You're on the edge of town here. It's quiet, but you can walk to the centre in about ten minutes. Penrith has the usual supermarkets and a few decent pubs. There's a pub about a five-minute walk from the house.
The main thing is the location for getting about. It's about a ten-minute drive to Ullswater. You can go sailing there, or just get a ticket for the steamer. Keswick and Derwentwater are about twenty minutes away by car. The northern Lake District fells are all easily reachable.
If you fancy something different, the Eden Valley is just east of here. It's quieter than the main lakes. The Settle to Carlisle railway runs through it, which is worth a trip if you like trains.
Scotland isn't far either. You can be in Gretna Green in under an hour.
Facilities: it's got the things you'd expect. Washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, a TV. There's a small patio garden out the back with a barbecue. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and a highchair if you need them. No pets, sorry.
