Wallthwaite Cottage is in Scales. It's just outside the village, up a little lane. The views are the main thing. You look straight at Blencathra from the back windows. It's pretty stunning.
It sleeps six, three bedrooms. Two bathrooms which is handy. There's parking for two cars. The renovation sorted out the kitchen and bathrooms. It's got underfloor heating downstairs, and a wood burner in the sitting room for the evenings.
The garden is enclosed. Good if you've got dogs. We take up to two pets. There's a patio with a table.
It's on a working farm, so you'll see sheep in the fields. The road is quiet.
Keswick is about ten minutes by car. That's where the main shops and pubs are. There's a leisure centre there if the weather's bad. Derwentwater is just past Keswick. You can walk around it or get the launch boat.
For walks, you can go straight from the door. There are footpaths up into the fells. The lane is good for cycling, if you're into that.
If you want to drive out, Ullswater is about twenty minutes one way, and Thirlmere maybe fifteen the other. You're right in the middle of the Northern Lakes.
Facilities wise: WiFi, TV, dishwasher, washing machine. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot if needed. The entrance and the ground floor are wheelchair accessible.
One thing to know: some of the stairs inside are a bit steep and narrow. It's an old building.
