Herdwick View
Herdwick View is our place in Dubwath. It's a detached Victorian house, sleeps eight. There are four bedrooms and each one has its own bathroom, which is handy with a group.
The house has a five star rating. It's comfortable and well-equipped. The garden is private and quite big. There's a summer house and a hot tub out there.
You're on the edge of a caravan park, but the house feels separate because of the garden. It's very quiet. You get a good view of Skiddaw from the back.
It's about a ten minute walk down to Bassenthwaite Lake. You can get to the shore for kayaking or paddle boarding. The Lake District Wildlife Park is the same sort of walk in the other direction. The Lakes Distillery is about ten minutes on foot too.
Keswick is ten minutes in the car. Cockermouth is about fifteen. Both have the shops and pubs you'd need. Armathwaite Hall is very close if you're going to a wedding or the spa there.
For walking and cycling, you're right on the edge of the fells. The Whinlatter forest trails are a short drive. The northern lakes like Derwentwater are easy to get to.
Inside, it's got what you'd expect: a woodburning stove, washer, dishwasher, plenty of parking. All bedding and towels are included. No pets allowed.
