Sommersby Cottage
Sommersby Cottage is in Cockermouth. It's a listed building, so it's got those low beams and stone walls you'd expect. It sleeps six, with three bedrooms and one bathroom. The bathroom has a separate shower and a big bath. Everything's included for the bedding and towels.
The main thing is the location. You can walk into the town centre in a few minutes. There's a good pub on the corner, and you're close to all the shops. You can park at the cottage, so you don't need to move the car if you don't want to.
The garden out the back is enclosed. It gets the sun in the afternoon. There's a table and chairs out there.
Inside, the living room has a wood burner. We leave a starter pack of logs for you. The kitchen has a dishwasher and a washing machine. The WiFi usually works fine.
Cockermouth is on the edge of the Lakes. It's about a twenty minute drive to Keswick. Bassenthwaite Lake is close, maybe five miles. For a proper mountain drive, the Whinlatter Pass road goes up to the forest and then down to Buttermere. That's a good loop if you're out for the day.
The coast at Allonby is about eight miles away if you fancy a change from the hills. It's a straight drive across the plain.
We take up to two well-behaved dogs. There's an extra charge for that.
