The Old Byre
The Old Byre is in Dovenby, west Cumbria. It's a converted barn on a working dairy farm. The rating is five star, which basically means it's quite new and everything works.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, a king and a twin, and one shower room. There's an upstairs and a downstairs. The stairs are normal.
The kitchen and living area are open plan, so it's all one space. There's a separate sitting room with sofas. The main bedroom has its own shower.
Outside there's a private patio with seating and a hot tub. The views are over fields. You can see the Lake District fells in the distance.
You're on a farm, so there are animals around. It's quiet. The nearest shop is about a mile and a half away. There's a pub serving food a bit closer, maybe a mile or so.
The coast at the Solway Firth is about five miles west. The beaches there are sandy with long views. Go east and you're into the Lake District proper. Keswick is about a twenty minute drive. Cockermouth is even closer, maybe ten minutes. It's a nice town with independent shops and places to eat.
For a day out, the Lake District National Park site has walking routes. The National Trust looks after a lot of the land and houses around here too.
Facilities: there's parking, WiFi, a washing machine, and a dishwasher. Bedding and towels are included. You can't bring pets.
