Ritson Wharf

Ritson Wharf is a ground floor apartment on the harbour in Maryport. It's modern. Everything was redone a few years ago. It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, one shower room.

The harbour gate is right outside the window. When the tide's in, you see boats. When it's out, it's mud. It's a working harbour, so it's not always quiet. You get lorries sometimes.

It's a five minute walk into the centre of Maryport. The town has shops and pubs. The beach is stony, good for a walk. The Wave Centre is across the road. It has a climbing wall and a gym.

The apartment has its own parking space. There's a shared garden with benches, looking over the harbour. The living room has a wood-effect gas fire and a big TV. The kitchen has a dishwasher. There's a washing machine. Bedding and towels are included.

It's all on one level and the entrance is wheelchair accessible. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them.

For days out, you're on the edge of the Lake District. It's about half an hour's drive to Bassenthwaite Lake or Loweswater. Keswick is a bit further. The Lake District National Park site has walking routes.

North of here, the Solway Coast is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It's good for beaches and birdwatching. South is Whitehaven, about a twenty minute drive.

In Maryport itself, the Senhouse Roman Museum is worth a look if you like history.
