Greengill Farm Shepherds Hut
Greengill Farm Shepherds Hut is on our farm, near Gilcrux village. It's not in the Lake District National Park, but it's on the edge. You can see the hills from here.
It's just for two people. One room with a double bed and a small shower room. It's a proper shepherds hut, so it's compact. Everything you need is in there: a little kitchen area, a wood burner, and a comfortable bed. The rating is 4 Star, which covers the basics done well.
You get your own bit of garden with a patio and a BBQ. We're a working beef and arable farm, so you'll see tractors and livestock around. The hut is set away from the main farmyard for privacy.
There's a pub and a bistro about half a mile down the lane in Gilcrux. It's a nice walk in the summer. The nearest shop is about five miles away in Aspatria, so you'll want to bring supplies.
For days out, Cockermouth is about a 20-minute drive. It's a nice town with shops and places to eat. Keswick is about the same distance, on Derwentwater. The coast at Allonby is five miles away if you fancy a windy beach walk.
Facilities wise: bedding and towels are included, there's on-site parking, and we can provide a cot if you need one. No pets, I'm afraid, because of the farm animals.
