This is Stackgarth. It’s in Arkleby, near Cockermouth. Off towards the coast, not the busy middle of the Lakes.
It’s a detached bungalow, so everything’s on one level. Good if stairs are a problem. Sleeps six, in three bedrooms. There are three bathrooms, which is handy. It’s got a 4 Star rating. It’s clean and comfortable.
There’s a hot tub. The garden is yours. There’s a heated swimming pool you can book privately on the site too, just a short walk away.
You can bring two dogs. There’s a pub about half a mile away. The local shop is a couple of miles. The Solway Coast is about four miles off – long beaches, good for walks. Allonby and Silloth are nice little harbour towns for a coffee or a meal.
Cockermouth is six miles away, a proper market town. Keswick is fourteen miles, with Derwentwater and Bassenthwaite Lake there for boats or paddling. Buttermere is about twelve miles. You’re about half an hour from places like Bassenthwaite, or the start of the northern fells.
For fishing, there’s private salmon and trout fishing on the River Ellen, a mile away. Golf and horse riding are nearby too.
Facilities: you’ve got parking, WiFi, a washing machine, dishwasher, TV. Bedding and towels are included. We provide a cot, highchair and stairgate if you need them.
There are a few other cottages right next door, so it works if you’ve got a bigger group wanting to book separately. They’re called Halls Bank Farm, Berwyn Bank and Beckside.
