The Coach House

The Coach House is near Arkleby in Cumbria. It's on the edge of the Lake District, but it's properly rural, not in a village. You look out over fields towards the Solway Firth. The sunsets from here are very good.

It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable and clean. The living area is all open plan and it's upstairs. That's so you get the views. The stairs are normal.

It's semi-detached with another cottage called Grooms Cottage. There's a big main house too, Holly Lodge. You have your own bit of garden and patio, but the larger gardens and orchard are shared. It's very quiet and private.

There's parking on site. For facilities, you've got a washing machine, a dishwasher, a woodburner, and WiFi. Bedding and towels are included. We can take one well-behaved dog.

The nearest shop and pub are about two miles away in Aspatria. Cockermouth is eight miles. It's a nice town with proper shops, cafes, and a few places to eat. There's a public swimming pool there. If you want something bigger, there's an indoor pool, jacuzzi and steam room you can book into about half a mile from here.

You're about a fifteen minute drive from the coast. Allerton Beach is the closest. The Lake District fells are the same sort of drive away. Keswick is about twenty minutes. For a good walk from the door, you're on the fringe of the National Park. If you're planning days out, the Lake District National Park site is useful, and National Trust Lake District page has ideas.
