The Farmhouse At Lane Foot
The Farmhouse at Lane Foot is in Dovenby, a village just outside Cockermouth. It's a semi-detached farmhouse we finished renovating a couple of years ago. It sleeps six, in three bedrooms. There's one bathroom upstairs.
The rating is 4 Star, which means it's well-equipped and comfortable. The stairs are fine, but they're original, so they're a bit steeper than in a modern house.
You can bring up to two dogs. The garden is enclosed, which is useful. There's parking right outside.
Inside, there's a kitchen with a table, a living room, and a utility room with the washing machine. We've also put a desk in the small back room if anyone needs to work. The wifi handles video calls.
Dovenby itself is quiet. There's a river that runs through it. You can walk to the local pub in about ten minutes. It serves food.
Cockermouth is three miles away. It's a good town for shops, cafes, and a few pubs. Wordsworth's house is there if you're interested. The main supermarket is there too.
You're in a good spot for getting about. Bassenthwaite Lake is about ten miles east. For a proper walk, the Buttermere valley is maybe twenty minutes south. Keswick is roughly a twenty-five minute drive.
If you head west, you can be at the coast near Allonby in twenty minutes. It's a long, sandy beach. St Bees is about half an hour away.
