Holly Lodge
Holly Lodge is in Arkleby, just outside the Lake District. It's an old stone house, detached, from the 1700s. It's big, sleeps ten. Five bedrooms, three bathrooms. It's a 4 star place, which means it's comfortable and has the things you need.
The house sits in its own garden with lawns and an orchard. You get your own patio bit. It's very private, surrounded by fields and trees.
Inside, it's traditional. Low beams in places, original fireplaces. The stairs are proper old house stairs, so mind your head. It's got a wood burning stove, a dishwasher, wifi, all the bedding and towels are included. You can bring one dog.
There are two other cottages on the same grounds, the Coach House and Grooms Cottage, but they're separate. You share the big parking area.
Location wise, it's quiet. The nearest shop and pub are about two miles away in Aspatria. Cockermouth is eight miles. It's a good town for food and shops, and they've got a pool there. The coast and the proper Lake District fells are about fifteen minutes drive.
There's an indoor pool, jacuzzi and steam room you can pay to use, half a mile down the road. Fishing and horse riding are nearby if you arrange it.
