Holly Lodge
Holly Lodge is in Arkleby. It's on the very north-western edge of the Lake District, so it's quiet but you're still in the National Park.
It's a detached 18th century house. It sleeps ten people, with five bedrooms and three bathrooms. It's got a 4 Star rating. The place is spacious. They've kept a lot of the original features when they did it up.
There's a big shared garden with woods, lawns and an orchard. You get your own private patio area too. The whole thing is enclosed, so it's secure.
Aspatria village is two miles away for basic shops. Cockermouth is eight miles. That's where you'll find the better supermarkets, places to eat, and a swimming pool. There's also a private leisure club with a pool, jacuzzi and steam room about a ten minute walk from the house, if you fancied that.
You can get to the coast, or to Bassenthwaite Lake, or into the fells in about fifteen minutes by car. For fishing, there's a trout pond a couple of miles away in Gilcrux, or the rivers Derwent and Ellen.
Facilities: it's got a woodburning stove, a dishwasher, washing machine, WiFi and TV. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and highchair if you need them. You can bring one dog. There's parking on site.
