Cosy Cottage
It's Cosy Cottage in Allonby. It's terraced, but you're not sharing any walls with the neighbours, just at the ends. The front looks out over the Solway Firth. You get a clear view across the water.
It's for two people. One bedroom, one bathroom. The shower is in the bedroom, and the toilet is separate next door. The rating is 3 Star. It's clean and it works.
The stairs are steep. They're the original ones, so mind your head.
The beach is a few minutes' walk. It's sand and shingle and it goes for miles. You can walk straight onto it from the village. There's a takeaway shop and a couple of pubs that do food. They're all within a few hundred yards. The ice cream from the shop is good.
You're about half an hour's drive from the edge of the Lake District. Keswick is under 40 minutes. Carlisle is about 25 minutes the other way if you need a bigger shop.
It's a good spot for walking the coast. The England Coast Path is right there. For local history, Hadrian's Wall is about a 30-minute drive.
What's there: TV, parking round the back, bedding and towels are included. You can bring one dog. There's a washing machine.
