Holmegarth

Holmegarth is a barn we converted on our farm in Arkleby. It's a modern place. Sleeps four, in two bedrooms. Each bedroom has its own bathroom, which is handy.

The main room is open plan. There's a wood burning stove. It looks out over the fields towards the Solway Firth. You can see the Scottish hills on a clear day.

It's on the edge of the village, with a few other holiday lets nearby. It's quiet here. You're about four miles from the coast. The central Lakes are a bit further, which means it's less busy.

Cockermouth is six miles away. It's a proper market town with shops and places to eat. Keswick is about fourteen miles. Bassenthwaite Lake is six miles. Buttermere is twelve.

There's a swimming pool on the site, the Arkleby Leisure pool. You can book it privately for an hour if you want. It's thirty pounds.

If you fish, there's private access to the River Ellen about a mile away. It's free for salmon and trout. No charge.

In spring, from February to April, we sometimes run a lambing experience. You'd need to book that with George, the farmer, either before you come or when you're here. It depends on availability. You can see the lambs, sometimes help with feeding. It's all indoors, you just need boots.

For facilities: it's got a dishwasher, washing machine, WiFi, TV. Parking right outside. There's a patio with a barbecue. We include the bedding and towels. A cot and highchair are there if you need them.
