Holmegarth
This is Holmegarth in Arkleby. It's a modern barn conversion, part of a small development of holiday properties on our family farm. It's a 5 Star place, which means it's well finished and comfortable.
It sleeps four in two bedrooms, and both have their own bathrooms. Everything is on one level. The main room is open plan. There's a wood burning stove for the evenings, and doors that open out onto a private patio. The view from there looks over our fields towards the Solway Coast and Scotland. It's very quiet.
You're about four miles from the coast here. The beach at Allonby is the closest, about six and a half miles. The market town of Cockermouth is six miles away for shops and places to eat. There's a pub and a restaurant a mile down the road.
It's a good spot for the northern lakes without the crowds. Keswick is about twenty minutes by car. Buttermere and Bassenthwaite Lake are also easy to get to. If you fish, there's private access to the River Ellen about a mile away, which is included.
On site, there's a shared indoor swimming pool and a children's play area. The cottage itself has a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and parking right outside. Bedding and towels are provided. We can provide a cot and highchair.
