Holly Cottage
Holly Cottage is on a street in Cockermouth. About a five or ten minute walk to the middle of town. It's a freehold house, so no one above or below you.
It sleeps four in two bedrooms. One double, one twin. One bathroom with a walk-in shower, no bath. It's a 4 Star property, so it's in good order. The stairs are fine.
The living room is a good size, with a wood burner. We leave some wood and kindling to get you started. The kitchen has what you need, including a dishwasher and washing machine.
Out the back there's a little terrace. It's west facing so it gets the afternoon sun. There's a covered bit with a patio heater, so you can sit out there even if it's a bit cool.
You're right in the town, so you don't need to drive for a pint or a meal. The closest pub with a riverside garden is about a quarter of a mile. There are plenty of others, plus cafes and restaurants, all within walking distance. Wordsworth House, where the poet was born, is just up the road.
For the lakes, Bassenthwaite is about a 15 minute drive. Buttermere and Crummock Water are about 20 minutes. The coast at Allonby or Maryport is about 20 minutes the other way, if you fancy a beach instead.
Keswick is about 20 minutes by car. Whinlatter Forest Park is good for mountain biking or walking, that's about 15 minutes away.
Facilities: there's on-site parking for one car, bedding and towels are included, and there's WiFi. No pets.
