Leatheswater
Leatheswater is in Legburthwaite, near Keswick. It’s a first-floor apartment in what was once a big country house hotel. You're on the edge of Thirlmere reservoir and right under Helvellyn.
It sleeps two, in one bedroom with one bathroom. It’s a 4 Star place, which means it’s nicely done. The views from the windows are good, over the hotel’s gardens and down towards the lake.
You’ve got your own little patio area. There’s parking right outside. It has WiFi and a TV. The kitchen has a dishwasher. Bedding and towels are included.
The location is the main thing. You’re in the Lake District National Park straight away. For a walk, you can go around the reservoir, which is flat and easy. Or you can walk up Helvellyn from here if you’re up for it. It’s a proper mountain walk.
Keswick is about ten minutes in the car. They’ve got all the shops and places to eat you’d need. There’s a pub within walking distance from the apartment too.
You can be at Lake Windermere, Castlerigg Stone Circle, or Dove Cottage in under half an hour. For a drive out, the western lakes or over to Ullswater are all within reach.
