Bank End
Bank End is in Glenridding Village. It's a detached stone cottage right on the riverbank. You can hear the river from the garden and the kitchen.
It sleeps six. Three bedrooms, all with their own bathrooms. That's handy if you've got a few of you. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable and well-equipped. It's not a show home, but it's solid. The stairs are normal.
You've got a wood burner in the front room. There's a dishwasher and a washing machine. Bedding and towels are included. WiFi works. You can park on the drive.
Two well-behaved dogs are welcome. The garden is enclosed but it's right by the river, so you need to keep an eye on kids or dogs near the water.
The village shop is about a minute's walk. The pub is a five minute walk up the roadside path. They do food. There's also a good restaurant just over the road.
You're in walking country. You can start walking up Helvellyn or Striding Edge from the cottage door. Ullswater lake is a couple of minutes walk away. You can get on the steamers there to go up to Pooley Bridge.
For other days out, you're close to Aira Force waterfall. Keswick is about a 25 minute drive. Penrith is about half an hour.
