This is Nokka. It's in Rosthwaite, which is at the bottom of Borrowdale. It's an old cottage, probably 18th century. It sleeps up to nine people in four bedrooms, and there are two bathrooms.
I'll be straight about the stairs. They're steep in parts, and a bit narrow in places. It's just how these old places are built. It's got a 3 Star rating, so it's clean and comfortable but not a modern show home.
The main room has a sandstone fireplace, which is nice when the wood burner is going. There are beams in the ceilings. The floor in there is original slate flagstones. It's got character.
You've got the basics covered. Washing machine, dishwasher, wifi, bedding and towels are all included. There's parking on site. There's a garden area outside. No pets, I'm afraid.
Rosthwaite itself is quiet. There's a pub in the village. For a bigger shop, you'd drive to Keswick. It's about four miles away.
You're right in the walking country here. The Coast to Coast path goes through the village. You can walk up into the fells from the door. For other days out, Keswick has the usual Lake District things. National Trust Borrowdale has information on the valley. Lake District National Park is the main site for maps and advice.
