Blaithwaite House is in Woodrow, near Wigton. It's our family's place, been in the family a few hundred years. It's a big, detached mansion set in 80 acres of its own grounds. The main bit is gardens and lawns, then there's woodland.
It sleeps up to forty people. Thirteen bedrooms, nearly all with their own bathroom. It's a 4 Star rating, which means it's comfortable and well-equipped but it's an old house, so mind your head on some door frames. The stairs are grand but they are original, so they can be a bit uneven.
Outside, there's a big lawn, a walled rose garden, and a summerhouse. The grounds have things like a crazy golf course, football areas, and play equipment. You can walk through the woodland and the arboretum. We sometimes run organised activities like laser tag or bushcraft, but you'd need to ask about those separately, they're not always on.
Inside, it's got the original features like fireplaces and stained glass. It's spacious, but it feels like a family home. There's a big kitchen, several living areas, and plenty of space for everyone.
You're in the countryside here. The nearest shop is about a mile and a half. The closest pub is two miles. For a restaurant, it's about five miles. Keswick and Carlisle are both roughly a twenty-minute drive. Carlisle has the shops and the castle. Keswick is on Derwentwater and has all the walking gear shops. The coast at Allonby is about ten miles.
For facilities, it's got pretty much everything you'd need: WiFi, TVs, washing machines, dishwashers. There's parking on site. You can bring up to two dogs. Bedding and towels are included, and we have cots and highchairs.
