Blaithwaite House is a big country house on our family estate in Woodrow, Cumbria. It sleeps forty people, which gives you an idea of the scale of it. There are thirteen bedrooms and thirteen bathrooms, nearly all of them en-suite. It's got a 4 Star rating.
The house is Grade II listed because of its age and features. You'll see the original fireplaces and stained glass. It's been in our family a long time. It's not a modern show home, it's a lived-in family house that we now let out.
The house sits in about eighty acres of our estate grounds. Thirty acres of that is gardens and lawns, the rest is woodland. There's a walled rose garden with a summerhouse. The grounds have things like crazy golf, play areas, and football pitches. You can walk the woodland paths, including an arboretum and some wetlands. We sometimes run events like laser tag or bushcraft on site.
Location wise, we're about halfway between Keswick and Carlisle. Keswick is good for the lakes and walking, and has all the shops. Carlisle is a proper city with museums and the castle. The coast at Allonby is about ten miles away.
The nearest pub is two miles away, in the village. A shop is about a mile and a half. There's a restaurant about five miles drive.
Facilities: all the bedding and towels are included. There's a washing machine, dishwasher, TV, and WiFi. You can have two dogs. There's plenty of on-site parking and bike storage. We've got a cot and highchair if needed. The garden is enclosed.
