Blaithwaite Cottage is a detached cottage on a large estate near Wigton, in Cumbria. It's south-facing, which is nice. You look out over woodland and fields.
It sleeps four in two bedrooms, one double and one twin. There are two shower rooms, one upstairs and one downstairs. The stairs are fine.
The garden is mature and big. It's fully enclosed, if you're bringing dogs. You can park two cars.
Inside, it's got everything that's listed mostly. It's a 4 Star place, so it's well-equipped. Washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, towels included. There's a utility room for boots and wet coats.
You're on the estate grounds, which is about 80 acres. There are walks through the woods and around a wetland area. The estate itself runs activities sometimes, like laser tag or bushcraft. There's a play area and a crazy golf course on site.
The location is between the Lakes and the Solway coast. Keswick is about 30 minutes' drive. Carlisle is maybe 25 minutes. The Solway Coast is closer, about 15 minutes away. Hadrian's Wall is a short drive.
The nearest shop is a mile and a half away. The closest pub is two miles.
If you're planning trips, the Lake District National Park website is useful. For Roman history, English Heritage has the details.
We allow up to two dogs. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them.
