Ellarbeck Cottage
Ellarbeck Cottage is on our farm near Whelpo. It's a working sheep and beef farm, so you'll see us out and about. The cottage is converted from an old barn, so there are exposed beams. It's the cottage on the end.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms and one bathroom. It's got a woodburning stove which works well. The stairs are a bit steep, but no worse than you'd expect. It's a 3 Star place, so it's comfortable and clean without being fancy.
The garden looks out over the fields towards the fells. You can start walking right from the door. Kids are welcome to come and see the lambs when we're feeding them.
The village of Caldbeck is about two and a half miles away. It's a quiet place with a couple of cafes, a shop, and a pub that does food. Keswick is about a fifteen minute drive. There's Derwentwater, the launch boats, and all the usual town things there.
You're on the edge of the National Park here. Cockermouth is about fourteen miles, and Carlisle is about sixteen if you need a city. It's a good spot for the northern Lakes without being in the middle of the crowds.
In the cottage you'll find a dishwasher, WiFi, TV, and parking. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot. You can bring up to two dogs.
For planning, the National Trust Lake District site is useful, and the Lake District National Park Authority has walking routes and park information.
