White Cottages

This is White Cottages, up in Whitby. It's one of a pair of cottages on the hill, so you get a really good view out over the harbour and town. You can just sit on the deck and look at it.

It's for two people. One bedroom, one bathroom. The rating is 3 Star, which is about right. It's clean and comfortable, not modern luxury. The kitchen is small, but it's got what you need. There's a fold-out table in there. The stairs are a bit steep, just so you know.

The living room has a woodburning stove. We leave you some fuel for it. The bedroom is upstairs under the eaves, so mind your head. The bathroom has a small bath with a shower over it.

The main thing is the location. It's about a ten minute walk downhill to the harbour and all the shops and pubs. Walking back up is a bit of a pull. The garden is enclosed, so it's fine for one dog.

You can walk straight out onto the Cleveland Way coast path from here. Turn right and you can walk to Robin Hood's Bay. Turn left and you're heading towards Sandsend and eventually Staithes. Saltwick Bay is about half an hour's walk.

In Whitby itself, there's the Abbey up on the cliff. The town is good for wandering around, and of course there's fish and chips. For a bigger day out, the North York Moors are right there. You can see the steam train line from the cottage sometimes.

Facilities: there's a washing machine, the bedding and towels are included, there's WiFi and parking. We've put a stairgate in the cupboard under the stairs.
