Ocean Cottage is in Whitby, right in the middle of the old town. It's a terraced cottage in a yard of other listed buildings. It's on four floors, which is a lot. The bedrooms are on the top two floors, so you need to be okay with stairs.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, one bathroom. It's a 3 Star place, so it's comfortable and clean, but not modern. It was built in the 1700s, so the floors are a bit uneven and doors are low in places. If you're tall, you'll learn to duck.
You're basically on Church Street, which is the main street up to the Abbey. Restaurants and pubs are right outside. The beach is a five minute walk down the hill.
There's a famous kipper shop just up the road if you want that for breakfast. The 199 steps up to Whitby Abbey start nearby. The views from the top are very good. The cottage is on the Cleveland Way, so you can walk straight out onto the cliff paths.
The North York Moors National Park is about a 20 minute drive. You can get the steam train from Whitby station to Goathland or Pickering. That takes about half an hour.
For facilities, it's got a washing machine, WiFi, and TV. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and highchair. Two well-behaved dogs are allowed. There's no private parking, but there are public car parks a short walk away.
