Whitby Townhouse

This is our place in Whitby. It's a townhouse about five minutes' walk from the harbour and the main beach. The beach is long, it goes all the way to Sandsend.

It sleeps eight people over four bedrooms. There's a bunk room on the first floor which is better for kids, a twin room on the second floor, and two king-size doubles. One of the doubles is in the attic with an en-suite shower. There are two bathrooms in total. The main one has a separate bath and shower.

The house is on four floors, so there are a fair few stairs. They're fine, but just so you know. The kitchen has a range cooker and a big table that seats eight. There's a utility room by the back door for coats and boots. Outside is a small, enclosed yard with a seating area and a barbecue.

You're right in the town, so you've got pubs, shops, and fish and chip places on your doorstep. The famous 199 steps up to the Abbey are close by. For a longer walk, the Cleveland Way footpath runs along the coast here. The North York Moors National Park starts just outside town.

Along the coast, Robin Hood's Bay is about fifteen minutes by car. Scarborough is about forty minutes south. For a big day out, Flamingo Land theme park is roughly a half hour drive.

In terms of what's there: WiFi, TV, washing machine, dishwasher. Bedding and towels are included. We allow up to two well-behaved dogs. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them.

A couple of useful links for planning: English Heritage for Whitby Abbey and National Trust Yorkshire Coast.
