Abbeydale Town House

This is Abbeydale Town House in Whitby. It's a Victorian terrace, so it's tall and narrow like most of them are here. It's been done up properly inside, but they kept the fireplaces and things like that. It sleeps six. Three bedrooms, each with its own bathroom, which is handy.

It's a four-star place. That means it's comfortable and well-finished. It's clean and everything works.

You're about a ten-minute walk from everything. The harbour's down the hill, and there's a big sandy beach just past it. The house is on the west side, near the swing bridge. There's a shop about three minutes away, and a couple of pubs and places to eat even closer.

The stairs are standard for this kind of house, so they're a bit steep. If you're bringing a little one, we've got a cot and a highchair here.

Whitby's good for just wandering around. All the little alleys and ginnels lead you down to the water. The Cleveland Way footpath goes right through town if you want a proper cliff walk. For something flatter, the old railway line, the Cinder Path, starts nearby and goes for miles.

Robin Hood's Bay is about a fifteen-minute drive south. Staithes and Sandsend are close too. Scarborough is roughly half an hour up the coast. The North York Moors are right on the doorstep if you want to head inland.

Facilities: all the bedding and towels are included. There's a washing machine, Wi-Fi, and a TV. No pets, I'm afraid.

For planning days out, these sites are useful: North York Moors National Park and English Heritage for Whitby Abbey.
