Nans Cottage

Nans Cottage is in Whitby old town, just up from the harbour. It's one of the old fishing cottages built into the hill. The beach is about a minute's walk away, down the cobbles.

It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, two bathrooms. It's got a 4 Star rating. There are flagstone floors throughout, which keep it cool. The stairs are typical for a cottage like this, quite steep and narrow.

The main bedroom is on the top floor and has a good view over the harbour. There's a second living room on the first floor with a sofa bed, which is handy. That room also looks out to sea. You'll get two showers, one is a walk-in rainforest type, and a downstairs toilet.

There's parking for one car on the site. You can bring one dog. All bedding and towels are included. It's well-equipped: dishwasher, washing machine, WiFi, TV, highchair and cot if you need them. There's an electric vehicle charger.

You're right in the middle of the old town. The pub is a short walk. There are lots of little shops and cafes on the way down to the harbour.

For things to do, you're already in it. The 199 steps up to Whitby Abbey are close by. The North York Moors National Park starts just outside town. You can get the steam train from Whitby into the park. The coastal path goes right through. Robin Hood's Bay is about a 15 minute drive. Scarborough is about 45 minutes south.
