The First Port Of Call

The First Port of Call is a ground floor apartment on the West Cliff in Whitby. It’s in a Victorian terrace, so you’ve got neighbours, but the apartment itself is all yours. It sleeps two, one bedroom, one shower room. Everything's on one level.

It’s got a 4 Star rating. That means it's well looked after. The main room is big, with high ceilings and a large bay window. There’s a sofa, an armchair, and a table for two by the window. The kitchen is a galley style. It has a door that opens onto a small, private patio with a couple of chairs.

The bedroom has a decent bed with good bedding. The shower room is compact but it does the job. There’s a washing machine, WiFi, and the towels are included. No pets, sorry.

You’re about a ten minute walk from the beach and the harbour. The 199 steps up to the Abbey and St Mary’s Church are a bit further on. Whitby’s a proper fishing town, so there are plenty of places to get fish and chips or seafood.

If you want to explore, Robin Hood’s Bay is about a fifteen minute drive south. Staithes is a bit further north. The North York Moors National Park starts just outside town. The heritage steam railway runs from Whitby into the moors, or you can drive it in under half an hour. For a longer day out, York is about an hour and a half’s drive.
