Sayers Yard

Sayers Yard is on Henrietta Street, just up from the harbour in Whitby. It's a tall, thin house packed into the old yard. You can take one well-behaved dog.

It sleeps four. Two bedrooms and one bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating, which means it's comfortable and well looked after. The description mentions charm and character, which is true, but the main thing you notice are the stairs. They're a proper wooden spiral staircase. They're steep and a bit narrow. Fine for most, but you wouldn't want to carry a big suitcase up them. The double bedroom is in the attic at the top.

There's a pub about fifty yards away. For a shop, you're walking down into the town centre, which is maybe ten minutes. The beach and the main strip are about a mile.

You're right in the middle of things here. The harbour's at the bottom of the street. Whitby Abbey is up the 199 steps on the other side. It's a good walk. The English Heritage site has the opening times.

If you want to drive out, the North York Moors are right there. You can be up on the moors in twenty minutes. Robin Hood's Bay is about six miles south along the coast. The North York Moors National Park site is useful for walking routes.

Inside, it's open plan on the ground floor. Kitchen's fine for cooking a meal. There's a TV, bedding and towels are included. Parking is on street, but there's a permit for one car provided.
