Ammonite Cottage

Ammonite Cottage is in Eastfield, on the outskirts of Whitby. It's about a mile and a half from the harbour, so a twenty minute walk or a five minute drive in.

The cottage sleeps six. There are three bedrooms upstairs. Two doubles and one with bunk beds. The bunks are full sized, so they're fine for adults. There's one family bathroom upstairs with a shower over the bath, and a separate toilet downstairs. It's got a 4 Star rating, so it's comfortable and well looked after.

Downstairs is all open plan. French doors open out back onto a small decked area with a picnic table. It catches the sun and looks out over fields. The kitchen has a dishwasher and a washing machine. Parking is on the driveway.

You're allowed up to two dogs. Bedding and towels are included. We can provide a cot and highchair if you need them.

The cottage is right next to the Cinder Track, which is the old railway line. You can walk or cycle straight into Whitby on it, or go the other way towards Scarborough. It's good for a run or a dog walk without having to drive anywhere.

In Whitby, you've got the harbour, the beach, and the abbey up on the cliff. The 199 Steps lead up to it. The beach runs for miles towards Sandsend. North up the coast you've got Runswick Bay and Staithes. South, there's Robin Hood's Bay and then Scarborough.

The North York Moors are on the doorstep. For a day out, the North Yorkshire Moors Railway runs from Whitby to Pickering. The North York Moors National Park website is useful for planning walks. Dalby Forest is about a half hour drive for cycling or the Go Ape course. Flamingo Land and the Alpamare waterpark are also within an hour's drive.

There's a local pub a short walk away. For everything else, you'll go into Whitby.
