Toll Bar Cottage is in Raithwaite, which is just outside Sandsend. The name's because it used to be a toll house. It's a detached stone cottage right on the road that goes along the coast. It's been done up this year.
The place sleeps six. Four bedrooms, two bathrooms. It's 3 Star, so it's comfortable and clean. One of the bedrooms is downstairs with its own shower.
The main thing is the position. You're a few minutes' walk from the beach at Sandsend. When the tide's out, it's a huge stretch of sand that goes all the way to Whitby. The village has a couple of cafes, a shop, and some good seafood places. There's a surf school.
If you want to walk, you're right on the Cleveland Way. You can go along the cliffs or down onto the beach. Whitby is about two miles along the sand if you fancy it. The local pub is a mile away.
For days out, Whitby is the obvious choice. The North York Moors Railway goes from there to Pickering. It's a good trip. Scarborough is about half an hour's drive south, and Dalby Forest is inland about 40 minutes. Flamingo Land is under an hour.
The cottage has a patio with an electric awning. There's parking for two cars on the gravel area. You can bring dogs, up to four. They'll like the beach.
