Ruffles

Ruffles is in Whitby, on the West Cliff side. It's a residential street, quiet, but you can walk into town in about ten minutes. That's why we got it: you're out of the bustle but you can still pop down for fish and chips.

It sleeps six. Three floors, three bedrooms, one bathroom. It's got a 3 Star rating. It's clean and comfortable, not a show home. The stairs are standard for a place like this, so watch your head on the top floor.

Downstairs is a bit different. There's a big room with a dining table, a pool table, and doors out to a small enclosed yard. It's a good space if the weather turns. The kitchen is separate, on the ground floor. It has a dishwasher and a washing machine is in a utility cupboard upstairs.

You can bring one dog. The yard is enclosed but it's not huge, just so you know. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and highchair if you need them.

For Whitby itself, you've got the harbour, the swing bridge, and the two sides of town. The beach on the West Cliff side is long and sandy, good for walking all the way to Sandsend. The 199 steps and the Abbey are on the other side. The North York Moors National Park starts just outside town. For a longer walk, the Cleveland Way footpath is right there.

You can drive to Robin Hood's Bay in about fifteen minutes. Staithes is about half an hour. Scarborough is roughly forty minutes away if you want a bigger seaside day out. York is about an hour's drive.
