Ruffles

Ruffles is a terraced house in Whitby. It's on a quiet, normal street about a ten minute walk from the harbour and the main part of town. You get away from the crowds but you can still easily walk in.

The house sleeps six. Three bedrooms, one bathroom, and it's got a 3 Star rating. It's clean and comfortable. The stairs are quite steep, just so you know.

The kitchen is a proper kitchen with a dishwasher. The living room is at the front. Downstairs there's another room with a dining table, a pool table that converts to table tennis, and a small drinks fridge. Glass doors lead out to a little enclosed yard with seating. It's a bit quirky but it's a good space if you've got a rainy day.

There's one double bedroom on the first floor along with the family bathroom, which has a shower over the bath. The other two bedrooms are on the top floor: a twin and a double. There's a washing machine and a cot if you need it. We allow one well-behaved dog.

From the house you can walk down to the harbour, the swing bridge, and the shops. The beach on the west side is long and sandy, great for a proper walk. Over the bridge you've got the old town and the 199 steps up to Whitby Abbey. The North York Moors National Park is right on the doorstep.

If you want to drive out, Robin Hood's Bay is about ten minutes away. The Cleveland Way path runs along the coast there. Scarborough is about thirty minutes south. For a day further inland, the National Railway Museum in York is about an hour's drive.
