Thornlea is our house in Whitby. It's a detached house up on the cliff top. The beach is a short walk downhill, a nice sandy one that goes all the way to Sandsend.
It sleeps eight. Four bedrooms, three bathrooms. One of the bedrooms is on the ground floor with its own shower room. The other three are upstairs and all have a view of the sea. The main bedroom has a walk-in dressing area and an ensuite bathroom. It's got a 4 Star rating, so it's comfortable and well-equipped.
The garden at the back is enclosed. It gets the sun and has flowers in the warmer months. The dining room and the sun room both have doors out to it. The kitchen is in the middle of the house and has a pantry. There's a separate living room with a TV and a small study at the front with a telescope. You can watch the ships from there.
It's about a fifteen-minute walk down into Whitby itself for the harbour and the shops. The 199 steps up to the abbey are there if you want them. Whitby Abbey is the main attraction. The beaches are good. You should get fish and chips.
Robin Hood's Bay and Staithes are a short drive along the coast. The North York Moors are inland if you want proper walking. North York Moors National Park has all the information for that.
Facilities: Wifi, parking, washing machine, dishwasher. Bedding and towels are included. There's a cot and highchair if you need them. We allow up to two dogs. The local pub is a few minutes walk away.
