Cart Shed
The Cart Shed is a one-bedroom cottage converted from an old farm building on our land in Normanby. It sleeps two. You get the place to yourselves with your own patio and garden, looking out over the fields towards the moors.
It’s a 4 Star rating, which means it’s comfortable and well-equipped. The main room is all open plan: kitchen, dining area, and sofa. The bedroom has a kingsize bed. There’s one bathroom with a shower. Everything you need is included, like bedding, towels, WiFi, and parking.
The location is quiet. It’s about ten minutes by car to Whitby, which has everything: shops, pubs, the harbour, and the beach. Robin Hood’s Bay is even closer, maybe five minutes. It’s a proper old fishing village with narrow streets down to the sea.
You’re right on the edge of the North York Moors National Park. Good for walking straight from the door. The Cleveland Way path is nearby if you want a longer coastal walk. You can see the sea and Whitby Abbey from the property.
Other things nearby: there’s a golf course a short drive away. You can catch the heritage steam train from Whitby to Pickering. Dalby Forest is about a twenty-minute drive for cycling or walking. National Trust and English Heritage have several properties within half an hour, like Whitby Abbey itself.
Practical stuff: we allow up to two well-behaved dogs. There’s a cot available if you need it. The owner can sometimes arrange for a mobile massage therapist to visit, but you need to book that in advance.
