Bosuns Cottage

Bosuns Cottage is in Whitby. It's right at the east end of town, above the harbour entrance. You look straight out to sea and down to the beach. It's about a 300 yard walk down the cobbled streets to get to the bridge.

It sleeps eight, in four bedrooms. There are two bathrooms. It has a 4 Star rating. The building used to be a smoke house. It's been rebuilt, but it's kept the feel of the place. It's double glazed and has central heating.

The position is the main thing. In summer, the beach is 100 yards away. In winter, you can sit inside and watch the waves crash against the harbour wall. It's a good show when the weather's rough.

Whitby itself is a proper fishing town. There's the Captain Cook Museum, lots of little shops, and plenty of places to eat fish and chips. You're never far from a pub.

For walking, the Cleveland Way runs along the cliffs right past the cottage. The North York Moors are a short drive inland if you fancy a change from the coast.

Facilities: it has a washing machine, a dishwasher, and a wood burning stove. WiFi is included. Bedding and towels are provided. There's a cot and a highchair if you need them. Parking is on site. No pets sorry.
