Mews Cottage is in Whitby town centre. It's a stone cottage, part of what used to be the old council offices. It's been done up into a holiday home now. It's got high ceilings and big windows, so it's quite bright inside.
It sleeps six. There are four bedrooms, but two of them are singles. One single is downstairs, the other is upstairs with the two double rooms. Two bathrooms as well, one is an en-suite shower room to the main bedroom. The stairs are fine, no different to most places.
You've got a decent sized lounge and a kitchen with a table for everyone. The floor in the kitchen is slate and it's heated, which is a nice touch in winter. Out the front there's a stone terrace with a couple of chairs and a table. It catches the sun. You can park two cars right outside, which is handy as parking in Whitby can be a pain.
You can walk to pretty much everything from here. The beach is about ten minutes on foot. Plenty of pubs, cafes, and chip shops are just around the corner. For a longer walk, you can follow the coast towards Sandsend.
Obviously, you've got the Abbey ruins up on the cliff. The English Heritage site has the visiting information. The North York Moors are right on the doorstep too, for a proper day out. The North York Moors National Park website is good for walking routes. The steam train from Whitby to Pickering is a popular trip, it goes through Goathland.
Coastal villages like Robin Hood's Bay and Staithes are a short drive away, maybe fifteen or twenty minutes.
In terms of what's here: there's a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, TVs, and all the bedding and towels are included. The property is rated 4 Star. It's adults only, so no children or pets.
