The Pirate's Palace is in Whitby. It's near the top of the East Cliff, so you get the views. It's a tall, thin house split over three floors.
It sleeps eight in four bedrooms. Two are on the second floor with the best views, looking out towards the Abbey and the sea. The other two are attic rooms on the third floor, with beds partly under the eaves. There are two bathrooms, one with a shower. The place is done up in a colourful, eclectic style. It's a 4 star, so it's well finished with good appliances. It's a 'shoes-off' house and they provide spa slippers, but you might want to bring your own.
The stairs are steep and a bit narrow. They're the original cottage stairs. Just so you know.
There's a small lawned garden at the front and on-street parking is available. The living room is on the first floor with a large bay window looking out over the town. There's a wood burner for cooler evenings.
You're about a five minute walk down to the harbour and the beach. There's a fish and chip shop, a pub, and a community shop for essentials all very close by, less than 200 yards.
For days out, you have the whole North York Moors on your doorstep. The North York Moors National Park site is useful for walking routes. The English Heritage page for Whitby Abbey has visiting information. Robin Hood's Bay is about a 15 minute drive, Scarborough is about 40 minutes.
Facilities: it has a washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, and Sky TV. Bedding and towels are included. A cot and highchair are there if you need them. No pets.
