Sunnyside is our cottage in Sandsend. It's a couple of miles up the coast from Whitby. You can see a bit of the sea and the valley from the front windows.
It sleeps five, in three bedrooms. There are two bathrooms, one upstairs and one down. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable, not a show home. The shower is good.
You're a five minute walk from the beach. It's a long, sandy beach and they have lifeguards in the summer at the Sandsend end. The path down is just along the road.
There's a shop about 250 yards away for basics. It also does nice local bits and pieces, and you can get wine or gin to take away. In the village there are a couple of pubs, a few cafes, and a seafood restaurant. There's a posh restaurant too, if you fancy that.
You really don't need the car if you don't want it. You can walk along the Cleveland Way to Runswick Bay or to Whitby. The bus stops on the main road if you want a lift back.
Whitby has everything: the abbey, the town, shops, the lot. If you drive, Robin Hood's Bay is about twenty minutes south. The North York Moors are right there too. You can be at Levisham Station for the North York Moors Railway in under half an hour.
At the house, there's a woodburning stove for cooler evenings. The garden is enclosed. There's parking for one car on the drive. It has WiFi, a dishwasher, a washing machine. We provide the bedding and towels. We can put a cot and highchair in if you need them.
