Sunnyside is in Sandsend. It’s about three minutes’ walk from the beach. The beach is sandy and long, about three miles end to end, and they have lifeguards at the Sandsend end in the summer.
The cottage is three bedrooms and sleeps five. There are two bathrooms, one upstairs and a shower room downstairs. It has a 4 Star rating. It’s comfortable and well looked after.
You can see the sea from the front windows, and the garden and valley from the back. The garden is enclosed.
The stairs are quite steep, in that way old cottages have. There's a stairgate at the top. The living room has an open fire, and the kitchen has a dining table. There's a Smart TV and the WiFi is decent.
In the village, there’s a shop about 250 yards away. They sell the basics, plus some local bits and pieces. There are two pubs and a few cafés all within a walk. There's also a very good seafood restaurant and another place with a couple of AA Rosettes, if that's your thing.
You can easily not use your car. You can walk along the beach to Whitby, which is two miles away. Or you can walk the other way to Runswick Bay. There’s a bus that runs along the coast if you want a one-way walk.
Whitby has the abbey, the harbour, and lots of shops and places to eat. The North York Moors National Park starts just inland. Places like Goathland and Grosmont are about a 20-minute drive. For a good day out, National Trust Yorkshire has a few properties within an hour.
In terms of what’s here: parking for one car on the drive. Washing machine, dishwasher, cot and highchair are all provided. Bedding and towels are included. There’s storage for bikes. We don’t accept pets.
