Ferndene Cottage is in Hinderwell, a village just inland from the coast. It's a terraced cottage, one in a row. You can see the sea from some of the windows.
It sleeps six. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms. The extra bathroom is handy for a group. It has a 4 Star rating, so it's comfortable and well equipped. The stairs are a bit steep and narrow.
There's a garden out the back, across a shared path. It's enclosed and has a lawn. There's a little summerhouse with a deck that looks out over the fields to the sea. You can sit out there.
Runswick Bay beach is about a mile and a half away. It's a very good beach. You can walk down to it from the village via a path, but the walk back up is steep.
The village has what you need. There's a butcher, a fish and chip shop, and two pubs. Both pubs serve food and are dog friendly. You can get a bus from the village into Whitby if you want to avoid the car parks there.
Whitby is about a fifteen minute drive. Staithes is ten minutes the other way. Saltburn is a bit further, maybe half an hour. The North York Moors start just behind the village.
The cottage is good for walkers. The Cleveland Way path is right there, and you can join the Esk Valley Walk nearby.
For facilities: it has a washing machine, a dishwasher, a cot and a highchair. Bedding and towels are included. WiFi is there. It's wheelchair accessible at the entrance, but the rest of the cottage has stairs. Two well-behaved dogs are welcome.
