This is Liverton Lodge Farmhouse. It's near Liverton Mines, up on the North Yorkshire coast. It's a big old building from the 1600s, sandstone, and it's on its own in the countryside. The views are good, especially down towards the coast which is a couple of miles away.
It sleeps ten. Five bedrooms, two bathrooms. It's got a 3 Star rating. It's comfortable and full of character, not a modern show home. The gardens are walled and quite large. You get a lot of birds.
It's opposite the old Kilton Castle, or what's left of it. Inside, there's a lot of original panelling, stone walls, and beams. There are two big sitting rooms. One has an open fire and window seats looking out over the garden.
The stairs are a point to note. They're in the old part of the house. They're steep and a bit narrow in places.
A shop and a pub are about a mile away. For a proper restaurant, you'd drive about three miles. The coast is close. Saltburn-by-the-Sea has a beach and a pier. Whitby is about ten miles south. It's a busy seaside town with the abbey, plenty of places to eat, and a lot of events through the year.
For walking, you're right on the edge of the North York Moors. The Cleveland Way is nearby for coastal walks. The Esk Valley Railway line goes through Danby, which is about seven miles from here. Danby has a good National Park centre. North York Moors National Park has all the details for trails and places to visit.
You can drive to places like the village of Staithes, or Robin Hood's Bay. The market town of Pickering and the city of York are both within an hour or so.
Facilities: there's parking on site, a dishwasher, wifi, and TV. The garden is yours to use. We can provide a cot and highchair. One well-behaved dog is welcome. Bedding and towels are included.
