Forge Cottage is in Scaling, which is in North Yorkshire. It's on the main road through the moorland, right opposite Scaling Dam Reservoir.
It's a detached cottage, built from sandstone. The place was rebuilt in 2022 from the remains of a much older cottage. It sleeps six, has three bedrooms, and each bedroom has its own shower room. One of the bedrooms is on the ground floor, with two single beds that can be zipped together into a double if you need it.
Downstairs is open plan: kitchen with an island and breakfast bar, dining table, and a big sofa in front of a wood burner. Glass doors lead out to the side patio and the back garden. The garden is tiered and enclosed. There's a barbecue and a wood-fired hot tub out there. The hot tub can be heated up for your arrival, but you need to arrange that with me beforehand and there's a separate cost for the wood.
There's a pub right next door. It's family friendly, has a play area and mini golf, and serves food. The reservoir opposite does water sports: paddleboarding, kayaking, sailing. You can store bikes or paddleboards in a locked shed here.
You're about twenty minutes' drive from the coast. Whitby, Staithes, Runswick Bay, Saltburn. All good for a day out. The North York Moors are on your doorstep for walking or cycling.
In terms of what's here: parking, washing machine, dishwasher, WiFi, TV, bedding and towels are included. There's a highchair and a stairgate if you need them. No pets.
