The Byre is on our farm in Houlsyke. It's a working farm, we're organic. The building was a byre, for cattle, but it's been converted. You get the feeling of the old structure with the beams.
It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, one bathroom. Everything's on the ground floor, which is handy. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable, not overly fancy.
From the front, there's a paved area and a garden. It looks straight out over the dale. No other houses in the way, just fields and the valley. It's a good spot to sit.
Inside, there's a wood burning stove for colder nights. Facilities are what you'd expect: TV, WiFi, washing machine, dishwasher. Bedding and towels are included. There's parking right outside.
You're in the North York Moors National Park. For walking, you can step straight out. The North York Moors National Park site has maps and ideas. The coast, like Whitby and Robin Hood's Bay, is about a half hour drive. Goathland is close, that's where they filmed Heartbeat.
It's a quiet place. You'll hear sheep and birds, not traffic.
