The Old Barn

The Old Barn is one of the buildings on Maddy House Farm. The farm's old, from the 1400s. You're on your own out there, detached. It's quiet.

It sleeps four. Two bedrooms, both doubles, and two bathrooms. That's handy. It's got a 4 Star rating. It's comfortable, well kept, but it's a converted barn, not a show home. You get the basics done well.

You're surrounded by the farm's own land, about twenty acres of fields. The view from the back is across the moor towards Castleton. It's a proper view, no other houses in the way.

Castleton village is about a mile down the road. There's a co-op shop, a couple of pubs, and a tea room that has a post office sometimes. The pub does food.

If you want the coast, Robin Hood's Bay and Staithes are about half an hour's drive. They're those old fishing villages with the smugglers' coves. Whitby is in that direction too. Scarborough and Filey are a bit further, maybe forty-five minutes.

For a big day out, Castle Howard is about forty minutes drive. It's one of those massive stately homes. Nunnington Hall is National Trust and a bit closer.

Facilities: it's all there. Washing machine, dishwasher, wifi, TV. There's a games room in one of the other farm buildings you can use. Garden with a patio. Parking right outside. You can bring two dogs. All bedding and towels are included.

If you need more space, you can book it together with Maddy Cart House next door. That sleeps another two.
