Maddy Cart House is a studio cottage on our farm just outside Castleton. It's one of those single storey stone buildings that used to be a cart shed. It's detached, so you're on your own out there. The views are good, straight out over our fields to the moors.
It sleeps two. One room with the bed and living space together. One bathroom with a walk-in shower. It's got a 3 Star rating. Everything works, it's clean and warm, but it's simple. It's all on the ground floor and has been set up to be wheelchair accessible. There are grab rails in the shower.
You've got your own patio area to sit out on. There's a games room in the main farm building you can use, with a pool table and darts. Parking is right outside the door.
We're up a track about a mile from the village. There's a shop and a couple of pubs down there. Castleton itself is a good base for walking. You can be on the moors in minutes. From the door, you can walk all the way to Danby Beacon if you're up for it.
By car, you're about half an hour from the coast at Whitby or Sandsend. Robin Hood's Bay is a bit closer. The North York Moors Railway runs through Grosmont, which is a 20 minute drive. For a big stately home, Castle Howard is about 40 minutes away. The North York Moors National Park site has walking routes and maps.
We allow one well-behaved dog. Bedding and towels are included. There's a TV, and heating is all electric and included.
