Finkle Barn is in Houlsyke, outside Danby. It's a detached barn that used to be for cows. The conversion was done really well, it's solid. You get panoramic views across the moorland valleys, they're quite something.
It sleeps six. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms, which is handy. It's got a 4 Star rating. We take one dog.
The place is over two hundred years old, so the walls are thick. It's very warm with the wood burner going. The garden is enclosed, which is good if you've brought a dog. There's parking right there.
You can walk or cycle straight from the door. The North York Moors National Park website has trail maps. There's fishing nearby too.
For shops and a main shop, you'd go to Danby, which is about two miles. There are villages around with tea rooms and pubs. The nearest one is a short drive.
Whitby is about a twenty minute drive. That's where you get the big sandy beach, the abbey, and all the Captain Cook history. It's a proper seaside town.
Inside, it's got what you'd need: WiFi, a TV, dishwasher, washing machine. Bedding and towels are included. We provide a cot and a highchair if you're coming with little ones.
Other things within about half an hour: the heritage railway at Pickering, and the market town of Helmsley with its castle.
